About the station
Chongqing North is a major high-speed hub handling G and D trains toward Chengdu, Wuhan, Xi’an and the eastern network, as well as services to the north.
The station is large and has a north and south square, which is the detail that catches people out: arriving at the wrong square can mean a long walk or a taxi ride to reach the correct entrance. Check which square your train departs from.
The building is modern, airy and bilingual, but its scale is comparable to Chengdu East, so allow real time.
Getting to and from Chongqing
Metro Line 3 among others serves the station, with exits on both the north and south sides. Check which side your departure hall is on before choosing an exit.
Airport connections to Jiangbei are straightforward by metro or taxi from here.
What catches travellers out here
- North square and south square are not directly connected for pedestrians in all cases. Confirm your entrance before you arrive, not after.
- Chongqing North and Chongqing West both handle high-speed trains. The ticket will say which, but the English is easy to skim past.
